Trafika Europe – call for interns

Trafika Europe is an exciting literary project showcasing new literature in English translation from across Europe. We maintain a prestigious online literary quarterly, publish annual print anthologies, and have been developing additional project features in support of contemporary European literature, including a literary events calendar, a virtual online bookshop, and preparing to launch Trafika Europe Radio – Europe’s literary radio station. This internship is suitable for students seeking to gain experience in publishing and the literary sector generally, new media and communications. Interns will be able to establish career contacts, explore contemporary European literary cultures, and depending on suitable tasks, may learn skills related to non-profit management, literary translation and editing, outreach and promotion, events organizing, cultural journalism, database management, audio recording, website management and so on. Possibility exists to grow with the project and fulfill other roles as suitable. Internship combines tasks which can be done independently with regular on-campus meetings and supervision.

This internship is available for 3 credits. Students should first contact the Trafika Europe director to determine suitability, then get advisor approval to enroll in LA 495.

Number of undergraduates needed: 4
Minimum qualifications: Good writing and communication skills are a must. Some familiarity with one or more European languages is a plus, but not required. The ideal intern may also have experience with literary translation, and online, radio or other media.
