Frisbee Flight Dynamics

Our lab has designed a Frisbee launcher to study the Flight Dynamics of a Frisbee. Our lab also has developed an instrumented Frisbee to acquire flight data. This project will involve running experiments to gather data, process and generate results to study the flight dynamics. It might also involve modifying the instrumentation, the launcher as required to enable repeatable performance.

Smart Portable devices development

Hacking your smart device to help engineering education is what this project is about. Integration of low cost sensors in combination with existing sensors in smart portable devices to design and develop experiments for student use in and out of the classroom. You must be very handy and must have programming knowledge.

Study of Thrust/Lift generation in flexible Flapping Foils

We are interested in studying the generation of Thrust (drag) and Lift of flexible flapping foils. A test bed will be constructed consisting of a mechanism that will generate cyclic motion. The mechanism will also have the freedom to rotate freely. A set of flexible flapping wings will be developed for the tests. Experiments will be run on the instrumented foils to measure the thrust and lift.
