Food Process Engineering

Food process engineering is the application of scientific and engineering principles to enhance the processing of food products. Some of the ongoing projects in our laboratories include: modeling of heat transfer during microwave processing of foods, and modified atmosphere storage to enhance the shelf life of fresh produce.

Undergraduate students can get involved at different phases of these projects. It is intended that they would obtain an overall appreciation for the area and the aspect of conducting research through the method of scientific investigation.

Number of undergraduates needed: 2
Minimum qualifications: Preferably students from Physical Sciences or Engineering
